Greaseball Challenge 2007 is supporting the following projects with funds and/or vehicle donations:

Combustibles Ecologicos, S.A., Guatemala
www.guatebiodiesel.com

Established by Guatemalan engineers and renewable energy advocates in 2005, Combustibles Ecologicos S.A. (Ecological Fuels) has a mission to develop and promote biofuels in Guatemala and the greater Central America isthmus.  Combustibles plans to establish a medium-sized biodiesel facility in Quetzaltenango to fuel local public mini-buses and other enterprises. The organization also works with rural campesino communities to build and operate small-scale biodiesel reactors to power generators and farm equipment.

Proambiente and Coop Talamanca Sostenible, Costa Rica
Proambiente is a private company working with a local cooperative,
Talamanca Sostenible, with technical support from EARTH University
to develop a pilot biofuel project, Klean Air Fuel. KleanAirFuel is a
methanol-based fuel produced from biomass (banana/plantain waste) which can be combined at any ratio with gasoline, or as a component of diesel/biodiesel.

Located in Guácimo, Limón, Costa Rica is a private, international, non-profit university dedicated to education in the agricultural sciences and natural resources in order to contribute to sustainable development in the tropics by seeking a balance between agricultural production and environmental preservation.

Green Earth Development Teams
(Equipos de Desarrollo Tierra Verde)

Green Earth Development Teams is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to help catalyze community-based sustainable development. Green Earth Development Teams works with Green Earth Coffee (www.greenearthcoffee.net) and the Green Earth Ecological Coffee Mill (fair trade organic coffee); 1001 Villages (indigenous crafts enterprise); and Carbon Clear LLC (carbon credit forestry conservation projects).
